From Soil to Textile: Growing a Local Fibre Future
Now trading as Papahoa Fibreworks Ltd
I'm Gina, a grower and maker working to restore a soil-to-soil textile system by cultivating linen flax, indigo, and other dye plants on certified organic land in Canterbury, NZ. My goal is to rebuild a local fibre production system using organic and regenerative principles, creating materials that support artists, designers, and makers.
My project has since developped into a business with thanks to Seonaid Burnie at The Cloth Works - An amazing natural dyer here in Otautahi!
Together we're taking a grass-roots approach to offer natural dyes and fibres to the makers of our beautiful country.
Join us over on our business site where you can learn about how we plan to tackle the industry and inject nature into an ever-increasing sea of plastic entering our wardrobes. You'll also find my range of dye seeds, dried dye plants and other goodies at our new website. Come & join us!
